Massachusetts Energy Facilities Siting Board to Hold Public Comment Hearings in Hingham and Weymouth
Hingham customers and our Weymouth neighbors are encouraged to participate in the EFSB’s public comment hearings, on March 25 and March 31, to learn more about the Siting Board’s review process, provide comments, and ask questions about the Hingham Electrical Infrastructure Reliability Project (HEIRP).

Electrify Hingham: Heat Pump Forum
Register now for HMLP’s Heat Pump Forum, taking place on March 22nd from 12pm-3pm at the House of Prayer (916 Main St). This free event is to help Hingham residents learn about heat pumps, ask questions, and develop a plan for getting a new, efficient heating & cooling system at home. Lunch will be provided!
Annual Food Drive 2025
HMLP is once again sponsoring a food drive for the Hingham Food Pantry. Please bring non-perishable, unopened items to our office at 31 Bare Cove Park Dr. between January 6 – February 20 to participate. Donations are accepted Monday thru Thursday from 7 AM to 4 PM.
Public Information Session on January 2025 Rate Increase
Residents are invited to join the Municipal Light Board for a hybrid public information session about the 2025 rate increase on Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at 7:30 PM. Attendees may join in-person at Town Hall’s Central Meeting Room on the second floor or virtually via Zoom.
HMLP Files Formal Petition to Construct Transmission Line & Substation
HMLP has filed a formal petition with the Massachusetts Energy Facilities Siting Board (EFSB) for approval to construct the Hingham Electrical Infrastructure Reliability Project (HEIRP). The project includes a new transmission line and substation for Hingham.

Tree Trimming
Hingham Light has hired Pathfinder Tree to conduct tree trimming that will reduce outages. Please be aware that they will be trimming trees for HMLP over the next few months to help improve the reliability of the system.
2024 Ride & Drive
Join HMLP and Hingham Drives Electric on Sunday, October 20th for a Ride & Drive to test drive electric vehicles and view models owned by Hingham residents! Sign up in advance for a vehicle and a timeslot. The event will be from 11 AM to 3 PM at HMLP’s office, 31 Bare Cove Park Dr.
Updated HMLP Rebates June 2024
HMLP’s updated rebate program now features incentives for battery-operated lawn equipment, induction stoves, heat pump dryers, and air purifiers! This is in addition to our current rebates for heat pumps, weatherization, electric vehicles, solar, and other appliances.
4th of July Parade
Every year, HMLP looks forward to participating in Hingham’s 4th of July Parade on Thursday, July 4, 2024 at 10 AM. Keep an eye out for HMLP’s big orange bucket truck and the “Electrify Hingham” banner coming down Main Street after the parade kicks off.
