Public power utilities across the U.S. celebrate Public Power Week the first full week of October every year to help customers and stakeholders understand how they can better engage with their community-owned utility and benefit from all its offerings.
HMLP is proud to be owned and operated by Hingham, and invites the community to celebrate public power with us throughout the month of October!
HMLP Public Power Week Events & Activities
Face Painting & Giveaways at the Hingham Farmers’ Market
October 7th, 9 AM – 1 PM
Visit HMLP’s table at the Oct. 7th Hingham Farmers’ Market at Station St. Parking Lot for more information about our programs and free giveaways! You can also make donations for HMLP’s annual food drive at the event, just drop them off at HMLP’s table.
EV Showcase & Charging Station Commemoration
October 22nd, 11 AM – 2 PM
From 11 AM to 2 PM on Oct. 22 at Station St. Parking Lot, join HMLP and Hingham Drives Electric at this fun community event to commemorate Hingham’s new Level-2 & Level-3 EV charging stations, tour a variety of electric vehicles (EVs) from our neighborhood, and learn about the EV incentives available now.
Public Power Scavenger Hunt & Raffle
October 1st – October 31st
HMLP is proud to be owned and operated by Hingham, and invites the community to celebrate public power with us! For the month of October, HMLP will be hosting a family-friendly scavenger hunt online. Participating families will be sent an HMLP goodie bag and entered to win a grand prize. Register for the scavenger hunt on our website at https://www.hmlp.com/scavengerhunt/
Annual Food Drive for the Hingham Food Pantry
October 2nd – October 31st
Hingham Light is once again sponsoring a food drive with the Hingham Food Pantry. Between Oct. 2 – Oct. 31, please bring non-perishable, unopened items to HMLP’s office at 31 Bare Cove Park Drive. The donations can be dropped off Monday thru Friday between 7:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Suggestions include: pasta sauce, boxed rice, canned tuna, granola bars, grape or strawberry jelly, canned soup, mac & cheese, or crackers.
***Look for expiration dates. The Food Pantry cannot accept expired food.
