Hingham Light is hosting a Public Power Open House on Saturday, October 4th from 11am to 3pm. Climb aboard a bucket truck, test drive electric vehicles and bikes, grab a bite to eat, enjoy music, face painting, and more! Bring the whole family for a day of fun and celebration to kick off Public Power Week.

The Hingham Light Board proclaimed October 4–11, 2025 as Public Power Week, celebrating HMLP’s reliable, not-for-profit service and contributions to the Hingham community since 1893.

HMLP has filed a formal petition with the Massachusetts Energy Facilities Siting Board (EFSB) for approval to construct the Hingham Electrical Infrastructure Reliability Project (HEIRP). The project includes a new transmission line and substation for Hingham.
